My Favorite Books of 2011

I pinned the above image last week. Isn't it awesome? (It's from FiveJs.com.)
My relationship with books fits this quote very well.
Soon I'll be sharing my 2012 reading list, but before I do I wanted to highlight a few gems from 2011.
The following are books I not only enjoyed, but have found myself referencing over and over again. They are all non-fiction (a situation I plan to remedy in 2012)!
Playful Learning by Mariah Bruehl – Full of practical ways to help children learn and grown in the areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social skills.
Before I'd even finished this book I was searching the web for new supplies and jotting down plans for us to implement at home.
The activities are intended for children between the ages of four and eight, but I have used some of them with my ten year old and envision myself continuing to use many of the ideas for years to come.
Rhythm of Family by Amanda Blake Soule – This book provides an abundance of ideas to help you and your family embrace each season. My children and I enjoyed making a few of the projects, including this fall banner (we even carved our own stamps):
I like Rhythm of Family because it inspires craft and play as a family. It is wonderful to have so many activities and tutorials at my fingertips and not have to come up with them on my own.
Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider – As I mentioned a few months ago, this is my favorite book on organization and simple living. It gets to the heart of the matter and challenges readers to be intentional in all areas of life.
It also includes a step-by-step, 10 day process for decluttering your life.
One Bite at a Time by Tsh Oxenreider is a simple living handbook that includes 52 projects to make life easier. This ebook is super practical and bursting with information.
One Bite at a Time is on sale until January 10th! Use code HAPPYNEWYEAR to get it for only $4 (that's $1 off). Click here to order your copy.
The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson – To tell you the truth, I'm not finished with this book yet. But I must say, I can't get enough of Sally Clarkson's down-to-earth encouragement. She has a way of helping me see clearly and strive to choose what is best.
Sally's words also motivate me to be courageous and have the guts to live differently.
I recommend her books moms everywhere (and her conference too.)
So many beautiful covers … makes me want to read them !
hmmm what to read next year ?? ;D
They are nice covers! A good cover is important 🙂 I love books that look good!
I love that quote! Those are all on my very long list of books to read…I love Sally Clarkson and want to read more of her books but can’t decide which one to read next! I had planned to read Organized Simplicity this year and have browsed through it but then I let a friend borrow it, so I definitely need to get that one back. Here’s my list of what I read: http://www.morethanmundane.com/2011/12/28/books-i-read-in-2011/
I’ve read Tsh’s books, but the rest of the ones you mentioned are ones I really want to read! Thanks for the reminder to move those up toward the top of my to-read list!
