The Best Shelf-Stable Chicken Bone Broth {Kettle & Fire Review}
We all know that bone broth is amazingly good for us. It's packed full of collagen to help our joints, skin, and digestion, and is an integral part of all gut-healing protocols.
Bone broth is something we can make at home, but it's not always convenient to do so, and the results can be subpar (This might just be me! My broth doesn't turn out to be super delicious).
I can't recommend buying or using most broth at the grocery store. In fact, I've spent much time scanning ingredients lists of broth and found all kinds of undesirable additives and even sugar!
Besides the yucky additives, grocery store broth is usually made with high temperature/fast-cooking techniques. The result is a watered down liquid that does not gel (homemade broth makers know the magic of the “gel”!). This means you aren't getting many (if any) of the awesome benefits gelatin-rich broth has to offer.
A number of grocery store broth aren't even made with bones (which is where the magic is!).
Broth available at the store is not the same healing elixir you can make at home.
BUT…
I have finally found a high-quality shelf-stable bone broth I can heartily recommend.
You may not be able to get at your local grocery store, but it's readily available online. (And shipping is fast and can be free!)
The company is called Kettle & Fire. Here's why I recommend them:
- Kettle & Fire bone broth is made from all organic chicken bones
- their broth contains super high amounts of collagen and gelatin since they use chicken feet (<– seriously, that is amazing!)
- slow-simmer time extracts an insane amount of proteins (10g protein per serving!)
- has extremely high amounts of collagen, glycine and amino acids which improve digestion
- it's fresh, never-frozen
- they use organic chicken bones, which results in higher quality bones and more flavorful bone broth
- the combination of chicken bones, veggies and spices create an amazingly delicious bone broth
Kettle & Fire packages their broth while it’s hot (so no germs can get in), and in what’s known as an “aseptic” vacuum environment so there are zero pathogens in the box or in the packaging area. This means no spoilage and a 2-year shelf life with no added preservatives or additives!
Check out the ingredients list:
Chicken Bone Broth (Filtered Water, Organic Chicken Bones, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar), Chicken Broth, Organic Celery, Organic Roasted Poblano Pepper, Organic Green Pepper, Organic Onion, Organic Carrots, Organic Garlic, Organic Scallions, Organic Tomato Puree, Organic Herbs (Parsley, Thyme, Rosemary, Basil, Bay Leaves) Organic Spices, Organic Black Pepper, Sea Salt.
Isn't that fantastic?
Kettle & Fire broth actually gels! Just like homemade!
This broth is great for including in soups and stews. It's also an awesome way to add extra flavor to rice, quinoa, and other grains (just simmer in broth instead of water).
Besides the usual ways to consume broth, Kettle & Fire bone broth is so tasty it's great as a beverage all on its own. Just warm and sip. So tasty!
I highly recommend drinking a cup a day, either alone or as part of a soup or stew, in order to reap the benefits.
