Two Good Reasons to Trust God
It is difficult to trust someone who is deceitful (and really unwise to do so). Just one lie can cause us to lose faith in someone completely.
Thankfully, God does not lie. In fact, it is impossible for God to lie!
Hebrews 6:18 says
“So that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.”
And then we have Numbers 23:19:
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
God is reliable. He won’t lie to you and He won’t change His mind.
My favorite part: He keeps His promises.
I love the end of verse 19 above, “Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” If God said it, then God will do it. The cool thing is, He can actually do whatever He says He will. There is no lofty, high talking, empty promising going on here.
Knowing this about our Heavenly Father makes every word of scripture exciting. It’s all true. It’s real. It’s there for the taking.
What does the fact that God does not lie mean to you? Are you able to have confidence in someone who keeps His promises?
