A Quick Family Update

Hello friends.

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving. We enjoyed ours. It was the second one without our dear Grandma (although last year doesn't really count since I was still in the post giving birth stupor).  It was her big holiday, so she is especially missed during this time. We had a peaceful day, although the kids were absolutely starving by the time dinner was ready! This was quickly rectified for my son with  a HUGE turkey leg.

It’s been a while since I mentioned anything about my little family, so I thought it was time for a quick update.

There are three main things to tell you:

1.       We are going gluten and dairy free for a while.

My oldest daughter has been experiencing some difficulties and our naturopath advised us to cut out all gluten and dairy and go on the GAPS diet. I am excited about the possibility of her feeling better, but am also overwhelmed by this huge undertaking. I mean…the poor girl loves her cheese!

I would appreciate your prayers.

2.       We are going to Australia! (Hence the Kangaroo picture)

I could do a little dance just typing that.

It has been 12 years since I’ve had Christmas in Australia and this year I get to! I’m pretty sure the heat is going to kill me, but I am thrilled to be able to spend some time with my family. We are staying for 6 whole weeks.

I even have a niece to meet. And my sister has a niece to meet too. Our babies are three months apart. And we bought them matching outfits!

3.       Little Miss finally crawls.

This last little baby of mine has been the least motivated of all my children. I thought she would turn one before she ever crawled. Not that it really matters. In fact, it was easier when she didn’t crawl! But now she does and it is a lot of fun. She is also saying “Hi,” to everyone (which is VERY cute).

I’m a tad nervous about our plane trip. Just because keeping a baby happy that long is near impossible.

I could use your prayers on this too!

There you have it: a quick update.

Hope you are all well. Thanks so much for reading here.

  1. I have been gluten free since last spring when I found out that I’m gluten intolerant. The health benefits have been great to me…I hope your daughter benefits from it as well.

    1. Thanks so much for your encouragement! I appreciate you taking the time to tell me you were helped by a gluten free diet 🙂

  2. My three girls are (now) dairy-free and a wonderful website that has TONS of recipes clearly labeled as GFCF is godairyfree.org This was such a big help as when you take away- you get to replace most things. Good luck.

  3. I hope you have a simply amazing trip! Wow – 6 weeks! That will be such a wonderful time for you all. My dearest friend that I met while in college has been living in Australia for the past 2 years or so. She met an Englishman when we studied abroad in Oxford together and eventually they got married! After they married, they thought it would be a nice idea to settle on new territory together. I’d love to visit her someday!

    Cheers!
