Frugal Home Decor at My House

My friend, Rebekah is hosting a fun link up in which people are sharing frugal home decor ideas in pictures.

Even though I am not the best decorator, I thought it would be nice to show you a few frugal decorative things from around my home.

Many of these were made by my mother-in-law who lived here before me. I'm so thankful we have very similar taste!

Here are a few items that I enjoy and that cost very little:

Stenciled curtains

I think these curtains may even be made from sheets. They hide my washer and dryer. I love the mixture of colors on the leaves.

Art work from my children

I try to display as much of this as possible.

It makes me happy.

Food displayed

I love jars and I love food. So, displaying both is natural for me. It's convenient and I like the homey look.

Oh, and isn't that bowl awesome?! My mother-in-law made it.

Post card or artwork in frames

I really loves these art prints, but couldn't afford to buy one. I popped a small post card print in a frame and am happy that I can still get the feeling I enjoy from the work, without the price. Of course, I would prefer the actual artwork, but this is better than nothing.

Twig vase

I made this a awhile ago and shared the instructions in a tutorial at Simple Homemade. I love the rustic look and the fact that it cost barely anything is a bonus. It is made from an old can, paper, hot glue and twigs.

What type of frugal decor do you have in your home?

I'm linking up at Simply Rebekah.

  1. To me this is the very best kind of decor. And what is it about food in jars? I wonder if it makes us feel we are secure and cared for. Whatever…it is just very pleasing.

  2. You gave me a good idea to add a glass jar of popcorn to my display of glass jars that currently have just rice and pasta. I love the golden color of the corn kernels!
