Yesterday we talked a little about getting to know God and how knowing Him is the foundation for a peaceful home.  I mentioned liking scriptures in which  God describes Himself because in them we find firm truths to take hold of.  Below is a list of verses in which God tells us about Himself (my husband put it together for me).

I like to use these verses as a foundation for memory work with the kids and am slowly going through the them, memorizing each one.  I prefer to do this before memorizing other verses and feel gives the kids a clear idea of what God is like. You might think of it as “getting to know God.”  I hope this knowledge will lead to a love for Him and a desire to do His will.  If we know God intimately and believe in His power, judgment, justice and love, then we will be more ready to face the challenges of this life and more apt to obey His commandments.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
