Chocolate Face Mask
Chocolate face masks are fun to make and use, plus they pack a powerful antioxidant punch!
Antioxidants are great for skin as they help ward off free radicals which may cause damage and visible aging.
To make chocolate face masks you'll need to incorporate cocoa or cacao powder with various “wet” ingredients to form a spreadable paste. There are many wonderful combinations that bring a host of skin benefits, including anti-inflammatory, skin-soothing, brightening, and moisturizing properties.
Cocoa powder is an extremely gentle exfoliant and can also be used to create facial scrub recipes.
Suitable for dry and sensitive skin, cocoa and cacao powder soothes and softens. Mix with a fatty base (like cream, oil or yogurt) to create a nourishing mask or mix with honey for a hydrating antioxidant mask.
Check out the recipes below for some fun chocolate face masks recipes you can make at home.
Basic Chocolate Face Mask
To make a basic chocolate face mask, you'll need 1 tablespoon cocoa powder or cacao powder and 2-3 teaspoons water, hydrosol, or cooled herbal tea.
Mix until a paste forms. Spread over clean skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes.
Wash off with warm water.
Rose, Cocoa, and Honey Face Mask
Ingredients
1 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon raw cacao powder
⅛ teaspoon rose water or rose hydrosol (sub with another hydrosol or use plain water if desired)
Instructions
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Apply to a clean face and leave for 10-15 minutes.
Remove gently with warm water and a washcloth.
Note: If your house is warm, you may want to lay on a towel as the honey could drip a little 🙂
Also note: since honey can be slightly different in consistency, you may need to adjust amounts. If you find your mask is too runny, add a little more cacao powder.
Chocolate and Manuka Honey Face Mask Recipe
Talk about delicious! This mask is good enough to eat!
Manuka honey is amazing all on it’s own as it contains wonderful antibacterial properties that are great for the skin. It is also an excellent hydrator and helps lock in water. Which is super important for keeping skin at its best. I’ve paired honey with cocoa powder to add even more antioxidant goodness and make this a truly luxurious face mask.
Take it one step further by adding a drop of PRI Manuka oil. This stuff is amazing. Think of it like tea tree on steroids! It's so good! Read more about Manuka oil here.
